If you are here, you have questions! What caregiver doesn't?!

Transparency and sustainability are very important principles in our vision - not just of our centre, but towards our community, too. For now, we hope we can address some of those bigger questions you may have and offer some insight as we begin to establish ourselves.

And although we will shed some light on our centre below, as we are growing some of these details are subject to change. When anything does change, we will be open and communicate with our community.

Everyone in our centre will have First Aid / CPR and Emergency preparedness training, and they will be provided with professional development opportunities.

What is Lulu's opt-in status for the BC Government's current subsidy prorams?

Lulu's has qualified for the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative and has passed on those savings to our families.

We have also opted into the Affordable Child Care Benefit Program which will also help support families with the costs of childcare. We are committed to create more accessibility into Lulu's programs.

Questions About Programming

Will Lulu's provide lunch and/or snacks?

Currently we are asking parents to provide food.

Will Lulu's have outdoor space and time in their daily schedule?

Rain or shine! We will absolutely have outdoor time in our scheduling.

Each age group will spend a minimum of 75 minutes a day out of doors: out in our playground or on a walk to explore our community

All children in our care will be required to have rain gear and come prepared for the weather. We do have a large covered area in our playground for those needing a break or wishing to engage in dry play.

What is the expectation around toilet training?

We promote autonomy and believe in readiness, therefore we do not put an age or an expectation on toilet training.

We do create a healthy relationship with the experience and encourage participation, whatever that may look like for each individual child.

Parents/guardians are expected to provide diapers .
We would have back-ups on hand, of course!

What time is nap / rest time? Is there space for this?

Naps/Rest time generally takes place after lunch.

Nap time can range from 12:30 to 3 pm, with most young children sleeping between 1 pm and 3 pm.

Our Infant | Toddler rooms have separate rest/nap rooms. Our 3-5 rooms have a designated rest area.

What if my child no longer naps?

Everyone at Lulu’s will enjoy a rest time after lunch.

For those children who no longer require a nap, rest time can range from 30 to 45 minutes, and a variety of options will be available based on energy level and comfort.

Questions About The Waitlist

Do you offer part time?

We do give priority to full time families. On occasion we may be able to offer a part time space in our 3-5 programme if we are able to match families with offset days.

When can I apply to place my infant on the waitlist?

You may put your child’s name on the waitlist for when your child is expected either through birth or adoption. This does not guarantee you a space but will place you on the list.

Where am I on the waitlist?

Currently, we do not provide wait list numbers and are unable to respond to requests related to where your child is on the waitlist. Please note the software will age your child out into the next age group.

Questions About Registration

How much notice will I be given when a space becomes available?

We aim to provide you with a minimum of one month notice. When a space becomes available, we will send an email to confirm interest. Please add our hello@thisislulus.com to your contacts list so we don’t end up in your junk mail.

When we extend a space offer, you will have 24 hours to respond. If we do not hear from you within 24 hours, we will move to the next child on the waitlist. It is important you inform us of any changes in your contact information.

Can I see the Centre before I accept the space?

Currently we are unable to offer in person tours but are happy to show you the space through Zoom. Once you have accepted a space, you will have an opportunity to do a quick masked walk through of the centre.

What happens if I decline a space when it is offered?

If you decline 2 space offers, which match your waitlist application, your child’s name will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist.

If you do not require a child care space, please contact us or use your portal link to the waitlist to remove your name from the list .

What if my child has an allergy?

We are an allergy aware centre. Parents are asked to bring no items containing peanuts or peanut products. From time to time other exclusions may be added.

Once my child is at Lulu's, am I guaranteed a child care space in the next age group?

Spaces in the next age group are not guaranteed. If you are offered an Infant | Toddler space, you will be guaranteed care until your child turns 36 months. We cannot guarantee a space past 36 months, but children already in our care always have priority.

Note: The majority of spaces become available between May and September of each year as children leave for kindergarten and children move to the next age group.
